Bipolar disorder can be an isolating illness, so regular contact with supportive people is vital to maintaining wellness. Spending time with people who know what you’re going through and can honestly say they’ve “been there” can be therapeutic and empowering. The Community Support Group is a free, drop-in group open to adults who currently receive treatment for their bipolar disorder. It functions as a supportive network where participants are free to discuss their experiences and share their thoughts and feelings about their lives and recovery. Participants are encouraged to use the group as a sounding board and help each other by sharing self-management strategies, coping skills, as well as listening, validating, and accepting. The Community Support Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 4 pm – 6 pm at CMHA North and West Vancouver, #300 – 1835 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the group, please contact Elaina, Bipolar Peer Support Programs Coordinator at 604-987-6959 or firstname.lastname@example.org
