Support Steps on June 6, 2020: Be Fearless Trail Marathon/Half/11k

The Be Fearless trail run supports and raises awareness for our own Steps Youth Program. $5 from each of the participant’s registration fees will be donated to the Steps Program so we can continue to support youth mental health with nature-based recreation and facilitate discussion about mental health. In June 2019, the Steps youth volunteered at the Squamish race to greet runners at an aid station. Not only did we have a lot of fun together, but we were able to witness runners challenge themselves physically with the support of a caring network. Experiences where youth can connect directly with the community while working with each other, build relationships, create meaning, and demonstrate how we can uplift one another.

The Be Fearless Race usually takes place in Alice Lake Provincial Park, Squamish; however, due to the impact of COVID-19, the race will be virtual, meaning that it can be completed anywhere or anytime. Although this is a period of great uncertainty, it may also be an opportunity to care for ourselves by continuing to get outdoors and stay active, all while engaging with the trail running community online. Race distances include a marathon, half-marathon, and 11 km option. There is still time to train, online registration is open, and a 15% off code is being offered for virtual runners (VIRTUAL15)!

Run Like a Girl also hosts adventure trips for people who want to challenge themselves through physical activity and empower each other through compassionate group discussion. They host women’s only and co-ed retreats in locations including Peru, Alaska, and various places throughout BC. RLAG also organizes three races for trail runners in the Lower Mainland, the Be Fearless Trail Marathon/Half/11 K being one of them.
