Ways to Give
Become a monthly donor—help build our resilience
Every day we answer calls that help people access the community resources they need to build resilience and support recovery from mental illness. When you make a monthly contribution, you provide stable funding for year-round response and help build our organization’s resilience and sustainability.
One-time donations—we rely on the generous support of our donors
One-time donations, of any amount, contribute to our on-going programs. Your gift helps our staff provide: employment programs, supportive housing, adult, and youth recreation programs community building peer support groups, and low or no cost counselling for those suffering with mental illness.
Receipts for donations made online will be issued immediately by CanadaHelps.

In memory—celebrating the life of a loved through a donation
A memorial gift is a heartfelt way to honour the passing of a loved one while helping someone else in need. We will send a personalized card to the family to recognize your tribute to their loved one.
Person to person—set up an event with proceeds going to CMHA
From the “Daoust Golf Tournament” to “Run like a Girl,” we welcome events hosted by our supporters that fundraise for our charity. If you want to host an event to support CMHA NWV, please contact Kirsten Ueland at kirsten.ueland@cmhanorthshore.ca.
Leave a legacy—make mental health a priority in our community for years to come
After you have provided for your loved ones, consider including CMHA in your will:
- A residual bequest lets you designate a percentage of the residue of your estate.
- A specific bequest lets you designate a set sum of money.
Download more information about making a bequest or contact Kirsten Ueland at kirsten.ueland@cmhanorthshore.ca.
Give a gift of securities—a very tax efficient gift
Give stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other publicly traded securities. If you have publicly traded securities in your portfolio that would generate a substantial taxable gain if sold, consider donating securities. You will receive a tax receipt for the full market value of the securities at the closing trading price on the day they are received and will not owe capital gains tax on the advantage of the securities from the cost base. CMHA will receive the net value of the sale of the securities less brokerage commission.
