Responding with Respect™ (RWR) Workplace Mental Health Skills

One in three Canadians experience a mental health or substance use disorder in their lifetime, while others will encounter challenges that don’t meet a diagnosed illness threshold. Both these realities can affect an employee’s well-being and impact their performance. All RWR workshops apply the 4R Action Toolkit™, which equips participants to recognize and respond to an employee, a coworker or a customer, when they notice a behaviour change. These workshops use a trauma-informed approach to ensure participants develop safe and supportive communication skills.

This workshop has 3 forms based on the organization need:

It also can cause muscle tension, gastrointestinal issues and impact our immune system. Participants are given tools to manage stress and also instructed on self care and self care plans. The workshop is interactive and stress management techniques are taught and practiced.

    3. Emotional Aspects of Retirement

Retirement isn’t just an ending—it’s a major life transition. People who navigate it best tend to treat it not as “stopping work,” but as “starting a new phase with intention.” For many people, work provides structure, meaning, and a sense of identity. When that ends, it can feel like losing a part of yourself. Questions like “Who am I now?” or “What’s my purpose?” are very common, especially in the first year. This workshop will identify and explore the emotional aspects of retirement and provide tools to help make this transition. The workshop is designed to be interactive.

    4. Parenting in Changing Times

Parenting today feels very different from even a generation ago. Rapid changes in technology, social expectations, education, and mental health awareness have reshaped what it means to raise children. Instead of relying on one “right way,” modern parenting is more about adapting thoughtfully. This workshop is designed to help parents navigate the challenges of parenting in today’s world. The participant will learn some techniques to understand parenting today as well as how to parent their children. The workshop will be interactive and leave time for questions.

    5. Challenges of Shift Work

Shift work—especially night shifts or rotating schedules—can seriously disrupt your body and daily life. Some challenges include disrupted sleep patterns, mental health, fatigue, emotional regulation, poor eating habits, relationship challenges, and lack of immunity to illness. This workshop will focus on tips to make shift work easier and give some real-life suggestions.

    6. Employee Wellness

Employee wellness is all about supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of people at work so they can perform well and feel good doing it. It’s not just gym memberships anymore—it’s a full ecosystem of support. This workshop will focus on the key areas of employee wellness and how to develop healthy workplaces. The workshop is interactive and there is time for questions.
