2021 marks CMHA’s 70th Annual Mental Health week. Throughout the week, we’re celebrating the resilience and connectedness of a community that rallies together in times of crisis by inviting you to join us in a variety of virtual events:

Newcomer/Immigrant Mental Health Resources & Support Presentation

In partnership with the North Shore Multicultural Society & North Vancouver City Library

Join local Canadian Mental Health Association Peer Navigator, Karen Hoshino, and North Shore Multicultural Society Settlement Worker, Nazila Safari, to learn more about mental health and wellness resources and supports. This presentation is open to everyone, especially Newcomers and immigrants on the North Shore.


“Fear of the Unknown”

A panel of peer supporters on mobilizing ordinary people to support their community in achieving mental wellness for all

Join Raymond Johnson-Brown, CMHA’s Community Wellness Coordinator, as he moderates a panel of diverse peer support workers working the frontlines of the North Shore. Through storytelling, questions, and laughs you will learn how to talk to your friends with mental health obstacles and help point them in the right direction. We are all a part of the solution to healing in our communities, so join us to learn how you can be a pioneer in your own community.

Stand Up For Mental Health Comedy Show: The Lighter Side of Mental Health!

What’s so funny about mental health? As far as Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) is concerned – everything! SMH was founded by award-winning counsellor and stand-up comic David Granirer who himself suffers from bipolar, and teaches stand-up comedy to people with mental health issues as a way of building confidence and fighting stigma.
